Jonathon is the founder and head coach at Core Judo. His credentials include both British and Commonwealth Champion. Jonathon’s love of judo came from some incredible coaching influences starting with the legendary Don Werner and later with the creative genius of Darcel Yandzi. His brother, Matthew, Olympic coach of the Netherlands, has also had a prominent influence on his coaching journey.

Alex, another Don Werner black belt, represented Great Britain at every level, was twice senior British champion and fought at the 2010 European and World Championships. He is one of the most talented Judoka of his generation, winning the Monaco International and silver at the Bremen Masters. Alex is a creative judo genius who combines his love of judo coaching with working at an international tech company.

Charlotte Farbon is a former Great Britain cadet European medallist who has fought at every level for Great Britain. She coaches on a Saturday and also delivers Personal Training and boot camps at the Dojo. Charlotte is a fantastic female role model for our female judoka to aspire towards. Hard working, kind and technically brilliant, it is fantastic to have her at the Dojo.

Aaron Turner
Aaron has represented Great Britain at the highest levels, including the World Team Championships and has won major International medals. He is a level 3 coach, currently doing a degree in coaching. Aaron runs our highly successful schools program and is a senior coach at the club, working from the the Core ‘Mini’s’ right through to the Senior Academy.

Jack Barnes
Jack has been a valuable member of Core Judo since he came on board the coaching team. Jack is a current GB Senior International who trains full time whilst coaching at all levels within Core Judo. He is a hugely popular coach who mixes his gentle and fun personality with a steely focus on getting the best from the children he coaches. Jack runs a monthly clinic for our top Junior Academy players

Ben Fletcher
Ben, a double Olympian, has achieved so much in judo and is passionate about giving back to the judo community. A Junior World medallist, he has represented Team GB at the Rio 2016 Olympics and later Ireland at Tokyo 2020, winning IJF grand prix and vice-champion of the renowned Dussledorf Grand Slam. Ben, also a graduate of the mighty Don Werner judo factory, runs a weekly technicla session with the senior academy players.
